| From the Director
What's in a name? The Gertrude B. Nielsen Child Care and Learning Center is named after our founder who gave us a vision of excellence by her example and her legacy. She had the foresight to realize that the greatest gift for working parents is peace of mind. She opened our center to offer that gift to countless families. We are a center that embodies the conviction that children, parents and teachers are all equally important components of a quality learning experience. Each school year brings the excitement of recommitting ourselves to that vision. Each year is a new beginning that provides us the opportunity to fulfill our mission to establish a partnership with parents to support their children's development and serve as a model for quality early childhood education.
The first years of life are critical to the healthy development of our children. We know that the foundations for lifelong learning are established between birth and age eight. We believe in the strong potential of children and we take great care to create beautiful environments that provide a sense of well-being and contribute to teaching and learning. Most of all, we believe that children learn best in an atmosphere of safety, love and respect through trusting relationships with caring adults who support their natural curiosity and encourage them to explore and grow.
Our teachers are exceptional. They are dedicated professionals who are open to new ideas and continually strive to enhance their knowledge as early childhood educators. They know how important it is to create supportive relationships with children, parents and colleagues. They go above and beyond on a daily basis to exceed the expectations of administration and our families.
I am proud to be a part of the Gertrude B. Nielsen Child Care and Learning Center and know that you and your family will be too. Come join us as we fulfill the vision of our founder, Gertrude B. Nielsen, who established a Center that truly cares for and is open to all children and that gives children the opportunity they deserve to learn, grow and flourish.
Sincerely,
Lana Weiner, Director
